Man on Mars?

NASA's robots have taken a picture of what looks like a man on Mars.

Why is it that every mysterious creature has to strike the Bigfoot pose?

Map is a puzzle for researchers

From Yahoo News

Why did the mapmaker name the territory America and then change his mind later? How was he able to draw South America so accurately? Why did he put a huge ocean west of America years before European explorers discovered the Pacific?
The map was created by the German monk Martin Waldseemuller. Thirteen years after Christopher Columbus first landed in the Western Hemisphere, the Duke of Lorraine brought Waldseemuller and a group of scholars together at a monastery in Saint-Die in France to create a new map of the world.
"The actual shape of South America is correct," said Hebert. "The width of South America at certain key points is correct within 70 miles of accuracy."
Given what Europeans are believed to have known about the world at the time, it should not have been possible for the mapmakers to produce it, he said.

Maybe they traveled further than we think they did. Maybe they were smarter than we think they were. Maybe we need to follow the clues history leaves us and just not discard them because we don't like them.

Batman 1977

Sure I was 12 years old but I would anxiously await the new Saturday morning cartoons to start each fall.
The promo would get me hooked and I would count down the days until the promised shows would air.
I would get up early that weekend and await t.v. to start broadcasting. Static, the national anthem and then it was go time.
Cheerios on the couch until Dad got up and said "Enough t.v. go out side and play!" and that was probably 10:00 a.m..
Fond, fond memories.

I never much cared for BatMite though.

Baby Mammoth

Here is a Reuters video about a baby mammoth.

Quote: "July. 10 - The remains of a baby mammoth which died 10,000 years ago in the ice age have been found in Siberia."

How do they know it was 10,000 years ago?

Did the mammoth have dated coins in its pocket? Or a dated certificate of death around its neck?

They are guessing. I just wish they would say they were guessing instead of stating things like they were fact.

Batman!

Here is the first glimpse of the new Batman costume.

Quote "Ever wonder why movie Batmans rarely turn their horned heads? It's because the cowls of past suits were firmly attached to the neck and shoulders of the costume — necessary to maintain that iconic silhouette and to prevent the actor from moving around inside the mask. The new headpiece — modeled after a motorcycle helmet — is separate from the neck, so star Christian Bale can now swivel his noggin side to side, or nod up and down."

Glad to hear a report on the new movie but sad to hear that it is not set to be released until july 18th . . . . . . . . 2008. :0(
